Brenda Sue Higgins

Brenda Sue Higgins, age 67, of Elkhart, KS died January 21, 2012 at Morton County Hospital, Elkhart, KS. She was born May 22, 1944 in Mineral Wells, TX, the daughter of Elza James and Mildred (Neil) Ingram.

Brenda moved to Yarborough with her family at a young age. She grew up and graduated High School at Yarborough. Brenda worked at the Morton County Hospital in the surgical unit. She was a member of the First Church of God and served as a youth leader for many years. Brenda was a member of the Friendly Neighbors Extension and a longtime member of the ESA.

On August 1, 1962 she married Garry Eugene Higgins. He preceded her in death December 13, 2010.

Survivors include three sons; Craig Higgins and wife Michelle of Cheney, KS, Blake Higgins of Elkhart, KS, and Heath Higgins and wife Michelle of Laveta, CO, three brothers; Gary Ingram and wife Laura of Keys, OK, E.J. Ingram and wife Darla of Amarillo, TX, and Darrel Ingram and wife Verna of Pheonix, AZ, her mother; Mildred Ingram of Elkhart, KS and six grandchildren; Kaitlin, Brittany, Garrett, Layne, Wesley and Kennedy.

Brenda was preceded in death by her father, and one sister; Dena Groves.

Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the First Church of God, Elkhart, KS with Reverend Gary Murrell and Reverend Billy Rammage presiding. Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Garnand Funeral Home, Elkhart, KS. The family suggests that memorials be given to the Gary and Brenda Higgins Scholarship Fund, the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society, both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
