Boyd D. Olney, 81, of Guymon, Oklahoma passed away Sunday January 4, 2015 at Heritage Community, Dunaway Manor in Guymon, Oklahoma.

Boyd was born December 20, 1933 in Hooker, Oklahoma, the son of Edward Marion and Reba Mae Daniels Olney. He was the youngest of five boys.

Boyd and his family lived on a farm north of Hooker during his early childhood years. Boyd helped his dad with the farm until he was old enough to get a job. He first worked as a lineman for Tri-County Electric and later for many oil and gas drilling companies.

He worked for Ideal Foods warehouse in Liberal, Kansas as a forklift operator and later for Nash Finch.

While he worked in Liberal he was living in Tyrone, Oklahoma and in 1965 met his future wife, Claraetta Oldham. They were united in marriage October 16, 1966 at the Tyrone Baptist Church. They made their first home in Hooker. In 1969 their daughter Lynn was born. Boyd’s last job was at Wal-Mart in Liberal, Kansas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his four brothers, Alfred, Chester, Neal and Dene.

Survivors include his wife Claraetta Olney of the home, daughter, Lynn Mecum and her husband Doug of Wichita, Kansas; and four nephews and four nieces; his sister in law, Dora May Olney of Tyrone, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma. Interment will be in the Tyrone Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma.
