Bonisacio “Ruben” Carrillo:UPDATE

Bonifacio “Ruben” Carrillo, age 63, of Elkhart, Kansas died December 22, 2011 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center – St Francis in Wichita, Kansas. He was born May 14, 1948 in Santa Eulalia , Chihuahua Mexico the son of Leonardo and Antolina (Patena) Carrillo.

Ruben moved to the Copeland, Kansas area in 1968. He married Manuela Corona on October 2, 1973 in Johnson , Kansas . Ruben worked for Collingwood Grain, later relocating to Elkhart , Kansas in 1979 and farmed for Miller Farms. He enjoyed working on cars, welding, antiquing, gardening, and was a craftsman. Ruben enjoyed visiting with friends and was good to everyone he met.

Survivors include his wife, Manuela Carrillo of the home; children, Leonardo Carrillo and wife Corinna of Elkhart, Kansas, Alma Nevarez and husband Oscar of Eva, Oklahoma, Antonio Carrillo of Eva, Oklahoma, Juan Carrillo of Elkhart, Kansas, Iban Carrillo of Eva, Oklahoma, Alba Carrillo of Elkhart, Kansas; brother, Arestio Carrillo of Greybull, Wyoming; sister, Rosa Lujan of Ojnaga, Chihuahua; six grandchildren, Hailey Carrillo, Emily Nevarez, Natilie Nevarez, Alan Nevarez, Mason Carrillo and Madelyn Carrillo.

Ruben is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Analy Nevarez; five sisters, and one brother.

Vigil service will be Monday, December 26, 2011 at 7:00 PM and funeral mass will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 10:00 AM both at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Elkhart, Kansas with Reverend Francis Khoi Nguyen officiating. Interment will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart . Friends may call Monday, December 26, 2011 from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart .
