Robert D. "Bob" Martin age 84, of Johnson , Kansas died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson , Kansas He was born August 30, 1926 at Larned , Kansas the son of Elmer and Ethel (Windmill) Martin. A Johnson resident since 1939, Bob graduated from Johnson High School and began farming and ranching.

On November 12, 1949 he married Janet Baugh in Johnson , Kansas . Bob was a member of the Johnson First United Methodist Church in Johnson Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, and was a former Johnson City Council member. As a young man, Bob enjoyed playing town team baseball. Bob also enjoyed playing cards and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Bob is survived by his wife, Janet; three sons, Brock and wife Jo Ann, Brent and wife Wanita all of Johnson, Kansas, Blake and wife Teresa of Rocky Ford, Colorado; one daughter, Kim Barker and husband Eddie of Ulysses, Kansas; one son-in-law, Lynn Teeter and wife Tracy of Ulysses, Kansas; two brothers, Bud and wife Mary Lou Martin of Alta Vista, Kansas, Larry and Sally Martin of Garden City, Kansas; two sisters, Dorothy Shull and husband Ken of Las Vegas, Nevada, Janis Martin of Aurora, Colorado; 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Barbara Teeter, one grandson Matthew Teeter, one sister Marylyn Martin and one brother Gene Martin.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 23, 2011 , 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson , Kansas with Reverend Don Hasty officiating. Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson , Kansas . Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson , Kansas . The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials be given to the Stanton County Long Term Care Unit or to the Barbara K. Teeter Memorial Nursing Scholarship both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. Box 715 , Johnson , KS 67855 .
