Billy Max O’Hair

Billy Max O’Hair, 82, died October 9, 2013 at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart, Kansas. He was born May 25, 1931 in Shattuck, Oklahoma the son of William Henderson and Olive Catherine (Druce) O’Hair. A longtime Elkhart resident, he was a well-respected educator, coach, avid bow hunter and golfer. On June 25, 1955 he married Helen Farmer in Great Bend, Kansas.
Survivors include: his wife Helen, sons Kevin & wife Kristi, Amarillo, Texas, Gary & wife Lisa, Andale, Kansas, Thane & wife Brenda, Elkhart, Kansas, 10 grandchildren, 2 great- grandchildren, brothers Scotty & wife Nancy, Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Richard & wife Karen, Yukon, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his mother, Olive, father W.H., brother, Tommy, and step-mother Barbara Davis.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 14, 2013 at First Christian Church in Elkhart, with the Pastors Jim Cunningham and Ron Wilson presiding. Interment will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, October 13, 2013 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart, Kansas with the family receiving friends from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to First National Bank of Elkhart, P.O. Box 1000, Elkhart, KS 67950. A memorial has been set up in Bill O’Hair’s name to provide a scholarship for an Elkhart student. Arrangements are in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
