Betty Ruth Wilkerson, age 93, died Tuesday, April 5, 2022, in Liberal, Kansas.

She was born on December 22, 1928, to Vernon Lewis and Ruth Lewis (Handley) on the family homestead north of Guymon, Oklahoma in Texas County.

Betty married Loyde Myrl Wilkerson on December 30, 1945, in Garden City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 9, 2014, after 68 years of marriage. She was the proud mother of one son, Rodger and two daughters, Lynda and Carolyn. Betty worked for the Turpin Grocery in the 1950’s and was the Cafeteria Manager for the Turpin School for 24 years retiring in 1989. She was a wonderful cook and will forever be remembered for her cinnamon rolls, pies, chocolate chip cookies, and the best fried chicken.

She was survived by her
Two daughters, Lynda Baylor and husband, David of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Carolyn Henness and husband, Gary of Turpin, Oklahoma
Seven grandchildren, Kari Jones (Willis), Lisa Babcock (Chuck), Jill Weaver (Wendell), Lia Roberts (Brian), Brady Baylor (Lynnette), Luke Henness (Ruthie), and Josh Hessess (Kristin),
Sixteen great grandchildren, and
Six great great grand children

She was preceded in death by

son, Rodger Wilkerson
Sisters, Neva Hoffman, Mildred Mahley, Arlene Ivey, Margaret Burrows, and
Dorothy Moore
Brothers, Edward Lewis and Bill Lewis, and
One infant grandson, Ryan Henness

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM on Friday, April 8, 2022, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM to receive friends.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Turpin Methodist Church, 202 S. Lee, Turpin, Oklahoma.

Graveside Service to follow at the Independence Cemetery in Turpin, Oklahoma.
