Betty Mae Gee Floyd

Betty Mae Gee Floyd, age 88, of Ulysses, Kansas died Friday, March 29, 2013 at The Legacy at Park View in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born April 11, 1924 on the family farm in Haskell County, Kansas, the daughter of Otis and Winnifred (Williams) Deyoe.

Betty was a resident of Grant County since 1926. She attended grade school at West Lawson (1/4 mile from the family farm) and Grant County Rural High School. She married William L. Gee on May 24, 1940 in Dodge City, Kansas. On May 10, 1980 she married Roy Floyd. Betty retired as County Executive Director from the ASCS office in 1984 after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Shelton Memorial Christian Church, Rebekah Lodge since 1950, American Legion Auxiliary since 1952, National and Kansas Association of ASCS County Employees, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Kansas Royalty Owners Association.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Gretchen Gee of Ulysses, Kansas; sister, June Grubbs of Ulysses, Kansas; four grandchildren, Tammy Oliver and husband Ben, and Stacey Gee all of Ulysses, Kansas; Todd Gee and wife Aileen of Moore, Oklahoma, Ty Gee and wife Crissy of Mustang, Oklahoma; four great-grandchildren, Trace Oliver, Taryn Oliver, Mady Gee, Tory Gee; and one great-great-grandchild, Kendall Oliver.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Garry Gee and Larry Gee; two sisters, Faye Robinson and Annabelle Rozean; and one brother, Bob Deyoe.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Judy Lane and Ronald Ham officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Friends may call Monday, April 1, 2013 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Legion Auxiliary or Park View Assisted Living of Ulysses in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
