Betty Lou Parks, age 92, of Johnson, Kansas, died Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson, Kansas. She was born May 16, 1927, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, the daughter of Clayton Raymond and Mary Ruth (Westfall) Lane.
Betty grew up in Rocky Ford and attended school there. She worked in the fields and was a waitress in the Rocky Ford area. After she moved to Denver in 1954, she worked at Russell Stover making candy. Betty married Richard E. Parks on December 9, 1972, in Elko, Nevada. In 1992, she moved to Hugoton where she made her home until 2013 when she moved to Johnson. Betty enjoyed sewing and quilting.
Survivors include her children, Robert Kirkland and wife Cheryl of Denver, Colorado, Loyd Kirkland of Manter, Kansas, Raymond Kirkland and wife Gail of Denver, Colorado, Anita Stidham of Denver, Colorado, Clayton Parks and wife Brenda of Manter, Kansas, Pamela Kay Addelman and husband Larry of Table Rock, Nebraska, Ruby May Parks of Phoenix, Arizona; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard, in 2012; and children, Howard Parks, Nancy Richards, Teresa Tupper and Julie Collier.
Memorial graveside service will be Saturday, December 7, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton, Kansas, with Erik Miradete officiating.
