Betty Lois (Stice) Bohling

Betty Lois (Stice) Bohling, age 78, formerly of Holcomb, Kansas, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the home of her daughter in Bedford, Kentucky.

She was born May 27, 1937, in Oswego, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Wertz) Stice. Her family moved to Meade, Kansas, in 1941, where she attended school. She was a resident of Holcomb, Kansas, since 1963, before moving to Bedford, Kentucky, in 2013.

She was baptized into the Lutheran faith, she was a lifetime member of the VFW, and a 40+ year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, both of Garden City, Kansas. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, chickenfoot, working puzzles, reading, country music, hummingbirds and watching KU basketball.

She was a rancher’s wife, devoted mother and grandmother and worked for the Holcomb Recreation Center for 28 years before retiring in 2012.

On November 5, 1955, she married Wallace Bohling in Clayton, New Mexico.

She is survived by three daughters, Catherine Kennedy of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Linda Schmidt (Steve) of Syracuse, Kansas, and Gloria Benecke, of Bedford, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Justin Bohling of Garden City, Kansas, Sharlene Sparbaine (Josh) of Manhattan, Kansas, Nathan Schmidt (Claudia) of Goodland, Kansas, and Lanette Schmidt of Derby, Kansas; two great-granddaughters, Lillian Pepper of Scott City, Kansas, and Abigail Sparbanie of Manhattan, Kansas; three sisters, Margie Capra of Meade, Kansas, Ilene Coleman of Postville, Iowa, and Retha Buettgenbach of Olathe, Kansas; three brothers, Ronald Stice of Canyon Lake, Texas, Charles Stice of Merced, California, and Marvin Stice of Meade, Kansas.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, her parents, a sister, Doris Cope, and a brother Genie Stice.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 .m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church, Meade, Kansas. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow the services in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Betty Bohling memorial fun in care of the funeral home.
