Betty Hazel Brown, age 81, of Johnson, Kansas died Friday, May 4, 2012 at her home in Johnson, Kansas. She was born October 30, 1930 at Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph M. and Snowie M. (Wood) Young.
Betty moved to Ulysses as a child and graduated from Ulysses High School. Betty was a homemaker and devoted her life to her family and home. She married John Q. Patton on September 23, 1948 at Ulysses, Kansas. To this union seven children were born. Upon John’s retirement in 1990, they moved to Deer Creek, Oklahoma where they resided for three years. After John’s death in 1993, Betty returned to Ulysses, Kansas.
On May 12, 1995, Betty married Gus Brown at Raton, New Mexico, he survives.
Other survivors include three sons; Donald Patton and wife Kathy of Pampa, Texas, Johnny Patton and wife Kathy of Grove, Oklahoma and Dale Patton and long-time friend Lee Berryhill of Lubbock, Texas, four daughters; Hazel Davis and husband Wayne of Oologah, Oklahoma, Marsha Henson and husband Bill of Alva, Oklahoma, Susan Rust and husband Rusty of Hutchinson, Kansas and Kathy Hill and husband Pride Brown of Kiowa, Kansas, one step-son; Alan Brown and wife Terrie of Castle Rock, Colorado, one step-daughter; Melinda Dimond and husband Kevin of Garden City, Kansas, three brothers; Leon Young and wife Mary Jane of Ulysses, Kansas, Norman Young and wife Maedell of Lubbock, Texas and Butch Young and wife Rox of Ulysses, Kansas, one sister; Bernice Correll and husband Ted of Ulysses, Kansas, 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents and first husband, John Patton.
Funeral service will be held Monday, May 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel, Ulysses, Kansas, with Pastor Steve Bridwell officiating. Graveside service will be at 4:00 p.m. at Bayard Cemetery in Deer Creek, Oklahoma. There will be no public calling hours. Arrangements managed by Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W.
