Betty Jo McNeel, age 62, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Friday, July 8, 2022, at her home in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born January 1, 1960, in Syracuse, Kansas, the daughter of Willis and Patricia E. (Bless) Carter.

Betty was raised in Liberal and graduated from Liberal High School. She married John Thomas McNeel on November 4, 1989, in Greensburg. Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, and aunt. She loved spending time with her family and had crocheted each of the babies a blanket. Betty will be remembered as an excellent cook, dog lover, and collector of bunny figurines. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing and listening to music.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Heather Jones and husband Walter of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Amy Bridenstone and husband Keith of Tyrone, Oklahoma; father, Willie Carter of Ulysses; sisters, Debra Fetterolf and husband Jody of Denton, Texas, Sherrie Bryan and husband De of Liberal, and Lori Cole of Satanta; grandchildren, Gage and Callen Bridenstine, and Jaylynn Jones; and many nieces and nephews.  

Betty is preceded in death by her mother, Pat; and husband, John.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 10:30 AM at the Lakin Cemetery in Lakin with Pastor Steve Swann, Jr. officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the Kearny County Historical Museum in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.
