Betty A. Pruett, age 68, of Ulysses, Kansas died Friday, January 29, 2016 at her home in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born June 30, 1947 in Lawrence, Kansas, the daughter of Lawrence and Betty (Peek) Olson.
Betty grew up in Nebraska and attended high school in Humboldt, Nebraska. She married Harley Pruett on March 1, 1964 in Pawnee, Nebraska. They lived in Colorado before moving to Ulysses in 1990. Betty worked at Gibson’s Discount Store and was a head cashier for 15 years. She worked for Stewart Accounting for 15 years as receptionist and bookkeeper. As much as Betty loved flowers, crocheting and crafts; her family always came first.
She is survived by her husband, Harley of their home; son, Harley Jr. of Ontario Canada; daughters, Shelia Rocchio of Florence, Colorado, Wanda Jean Gallegos of Wisconsin, Theresa Baker of Fowler, Colorado, Bethany Couse of Plainville, Kansas; brothers, Jerry Olson of Lincoln, Nebraska, David Olson of Illinois; sisters, Lola Wilhelm of Lincoln, Nebraska, Lenora Glathar of Humboldt, Nebraska, Lana Carpenter of Swansboro, North Carolina, and Ina Reddick of Illinois; 18 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; Lawrence and Betty Olson; and brother, Lonnie Olson.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Garnand Funeral Chapel in Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Gerry Dupuis officiating. Cremation will follow service. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
