PLAINS – Bertha Mae Osborne, age 95, passed away Monday afternoon, April 25, 2022, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.
She was born June 14, 1926, at Rossville, Kansas, the daughter of Alfred and Edna (Reeser) Lynde.
On October 2, 1944, she married Alfred (Jack) Osborne at Corning, Arkansas. Later in April 1946, the couple moved to Plains, Kansas, where they owned and operated the Plains Gas Company until their retirement in 1986.
She was a member of the Plains United Methodist Church. She watched many children grow up while being the Sunday school secretary at the church. She was an active member of the Plains United Methodist Women and the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, watching sports on television, and going to basketball games to watch her son and other family members play.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Jean Osborne of Liberal, Kansas; a sister, Iona Lee of Plains, Kansas; a sister-n-law, Betty Lynde of Jasper, Georgia; her grandchildren, Alex Osborne (Amy) of Topeka, Kansas, and Jennifer Osborne Cruz of Lindsborg, Kansas; her great-grandchildren, Tyler Kirchner, Tabatha Kirchner (Bryce Nelson, Jackson Osborne, Jesse Osborne, Evan Osborne, and Oaklynn Nelson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Osborne; a son, Jackie Osborne; her parents; her brothers, Vernon, Elmer, Bufred, Raymond, and Dale Lynde; and a sister, E. Louise Haag.
There will be no public viewing, as cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at the Plains United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Plains Cemetery at a later date.
The family would welcome memorials to the Plains Untied Methodist Church in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
