Berna Deane Hampton

Berna Deane Hampton, age 86, of Ulysses, Kansas died Thursday, November 17, 2022 at her home in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born January 1, 1936 at Satanta, Kansas, the daughter of Homer and Nellie (Hileman) Bonsall.

Berna Deane grew up in Ulysses, graduated from Ulysses High School in 1953 and attended First Baptist Church. Berna Deane was the first Nurse’s Aide at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital and later worked as an X-Ray Technician and in the Laboratory. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed playing cards, reading, Genealogy, Bingo, Bunco and attending her grandkids and great grandkids events.

On May 22, 1953, the same day as their High School Graduation, Berna Deane married William Leon Hampton, Jr. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1988.

Survivors include one son, Todd Hampton and wife Reba of Hugoton, Kansas, Five Grandchildren Randy and wife Tracy, Brent and wife Veronica, Nicole, Tara and husband Richard and Craig and wife Pam. 9 Great-Grandchildren Aisha, Emma, Faye, Casey, Leon, Britney, Eli, Lucas and Jemma.

Berna Deane is preceded in death by her parents, two sons; Rodney Hampton and Bryan Hampton, two brothers; Donald Wayne Bonsall and Oathel Vernon Bonsall.

Funeral service will be held Monday, November 21, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Steve Swann, Jr. officiating. Burial we follow at the Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, Kansas. Visitation will be Sunday, November 20, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses, Kansas. Family requests memorials be given to the Grant County Alumni All School Reunion in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, Kansas 67880.
