Barbara Jean Hampton

Barbara Jean Hampton, age 52, of Cuchara, Colorado died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas. She was born July 27, 1958 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Howard and Barbara (True) Ford.
Barb was a longtime resident of Ulysses, Kansas. She was a hard worker; previously working at Grant County Feeders, T-L Irrigation, Fuel Barn, and Hickok Grade School. She also cleaned houses and painted. Barb married Phillip Hampton on September 4, 1979 in Lakin, Kansas. They later divorced. Barb was a people person and loved being around people. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, family and friends.
She is survived by one son, Zeb Hampton of Colorado; four daughters, Alesha Hampton of Garden City, Kansas, Nikki Perkins and husband Brad of Gibbon, Nebraska, Cheyenne Hampton of Garden City, Kansas, Destiney Contreras and husband Chris of Jacksonville, North Carolina; seven brothers, Darrel Ford of Arkansas, Orval Ford of Oklahoma, Gary Ford of Nebraska, Mike Ford of Texas, Gale Ford of Mississippi, Dale Ford of Mississippi, Bryan Ford of Nebraska; two sisters, Linda Wickamp of Iowa, Karen Mohr of Nebraska; and ten grandchildren.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Gail; and ex-husband Phillip Hampton on October 25, 2009.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, Kansas. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses. Friends may call Friday, May 20, 2011 from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
