Barbara Ilene Oehme

Barbara Ilene Oehme 82, died, Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart, KS.

She was born June 26, 1930 in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of John P. and L. Fern (Dennis) Biddle. She was a longtime Liberal resident also living in Wellington, KS, Wichita, KS, Rochester, MN and Elkhart, KS. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1948 and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Panhandle State University in 1985.

She was a teacher and had taught at various schools. She was active in the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts for many years.

She was a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Liberal, KS and attended Christ Lutheran Church in Elkhart, KS with her family

On May 27, 1950, she married Neil A. Oehme at Pittsburg, KS. He died April 27, 2007.

Survivors include.

7 Grandchildren Sandee Crabtree and husband Jared, Frisco, TX; Brian Oehme and wife Janice, South Korea; Kevin Oehme and wife Nicole, Manhattan, KS; Rebecca Stealer and husband Mike, Salina, OK; Christopher Benson and wife Melanie, Weatherford, OK; Rob Benson Overland Park, KS; Kristina Benson, Cherokee, OK.

8 Great-Grandchildren Braxton Pond, Salina, OK; Drake Stealer, Salina, OK; Carter & Alexis Oehme, Manhattan, KS; Lauren, Colton and Cooper Crabtree, Frisco, TX; Zian Oehme, South Korea.

Memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverends Christopher Fincher and Andrew Wehling presiding. Burial will be held at Restlawn Cemetery.

There will be no visitation time as cremation has taken place.
