Barbara Ann Holt Gant, 91, left on her next great adventure on April 5, 2022. She came into this world on November 19, 1930, the only daughter of John Robert Holt and Beaulah Mahalie McWilliams in Orange County Texas. She grew up in Southern Texas and graduated from High School at age 16 in Nacogdoches, Texas. She went to college at Stephen F. Austin University, completing her Bachelor of Business Administration. She married Louis Ross Gant, Jr on September 6, 1949. Together they welcomed their children Lou Ann and Robert Louis into this world.
Barbara worked as a secretary, an English teacher, and supported Louis as a pastor’s wife. She enjoyed learning, teaching, traveling, and crafting. She created beautiful clothing and quilts. Her greatest joy and pride were when she was able to “preach” and help in the services at the Methodist Church.
Barbara (B, Grannie B) is survived by her son Robert Louis Gant, (Elizabeth), Grandchildren Jason Clark Wassall, Robert Shane Gant (Amanda), Nathaniel Ross Gant (Erica) and Kalliann Elizabeth Gant Robinson (Christopher), Great Grandchildren: Mahalie Chy-Ann Gant, Cooper Austin Wassall, Sadie Rose Gant, Isaiah Ross Gant, Olivia Grace Gant and Gwendolynn Eve Gant. She welcomed a Great Great Granddaughter last year, Alexandria Paige Clifford.
Barbara was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, brother, husband Louis Ross, daughter Lou Ann Wassall and granddaughter Lee Ann Wassall.
Barbara had requested no formal Bon Voyage for this trip and together the family will celebrate her journeys later this year. She enjoyed sharing with multiple charities and in lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to The First United Methodist Church in Hawkins Texas, Holly Tree Bible Church in Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, or St Joseph’s Indian School in South Dakota in care of Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas
