PLAINS – Arnold E. (Arnie) Tabb, age 65, passed away Thursday morning, September 20, 2018, at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita, Kansas.

 

He was born April 12, 1953, at Meade, Kansas, the son of Adrian S. and Marjorie Anne (Fox) Tabb.  As a young boy he attended school in Plains, graduating from Southwestern Heights High School in 1971.  After his graduation, he joined the United States Army serving for several years in Korea.  After his discharge, he began his career painting, as well as working on several homes in the Plains and Liberal area.

 

On January 1, 1978, he married Sheila Harper.  After twenty-nine years of marriage, the couple later divorced.

 

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars, the Plains American Legion, and attended the Fargo Lodge of Liberal.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, visiting museums, and spending time with grandchildren. He was known as “Papa.”

 

He is survived by his daughters, Chelsea R. Gardenhire and husband Russell of Winfield, Kansas, and Whitney L. Simon and husband Dalton of Garden City, Kansas; his mother Marjorie McGuffin of Meade; two brothers, Stephen Tabb and wife Anne of Cotopaxi, Colorado, Mark Tabb of Hollywood, Florida; a sister, Cindy Bryan of Plains, Kansas; his companion, Dee Dickson of Plains, Kansas; and four grandchildren, Jacob, Jayden, Adrianna, and Asher.

 

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at the United Methodist Church, Plains.  Cremation has taken place and inurment will follow the service in the Plains Cemetery, Plains, KS.

 

The family would welcome memorials to the Kansas Veterans and Family Reunion in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade
