Ann L. Atwood UPDATE

Ann L. Atwood, age 80, of Elkhart, Kansas died July 18, 2013 at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart, Kansas. She was born October 12, 1932 in Mesa, Arizona the daughter of Albert D. and Bertha E. (Creasman) Long.
Ann grew up in Mesa, Arizona and graduated from Mesa High School. She continued her education at Wheaton College and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. She taught in various schools including the Navajo Indian Reservation. On August 28, 1961 she married George E. Atwood in Mesa, Arizona and they moved to Elkhart, Kansas. Ann was a substitute Teacher in Elkhart as well as a homemaker. She also worked for a number of years at the Morton County Courthouse. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Elkhart, Kansas where she taught Sunday school, and was the Organist and Pianist for twenty plus years.
Survivors include son, Steven Atwood of Elkhart, Kansas; daughter, Carolyn Morris and husband Jeff of Hutchinson, Kansas. One sister Mary Robinson of California. Two grandchildren, Anna Marie Deal, and Evann Grace Deal; six step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents; husband George on November 5, 2012; daughter-in-law, Patricia Atwood and one brother Albert D. Long, Jr.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Elkhart, Kansas with Pastor Ed Richards officiating. Interment will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart, Kansas. Friends may call on Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart, Kansas.
