Andy Alonzo Padilla, age 47, of Hays, Kansas, died Friday, September 25, 2020, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. He was born January 22, 1973, in Ulysses, Kansas, the son of Elvia Padilla.

Andy grew up in Ulysses and graduated from Ulysses High School in 1991. After graduation, he served in The United States Army as a Sergeant and then transferred to The Army National Guard. Andy then attended Garden City Community College in Garden City then transferred to Fort Hays State University in Hays where he received his Master’s Degree in Accounting. Andy worked for FDIC as a Bank Examiner in Hays. He was a faithful member of the Catholic church in Hays, enjoyed riding bikes, spending time with family and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals.

Andy is survived by his mother, Elvia “Becky” Padilla of Ulysses, Kansas; sister, Candy Padilla and husband Manuel Aguilar of Van Buren, Arkansas; and niece and nephew, Jasmine Medina and Luis Aguilar.

Andy is preceded in death by his grandparents; three uncles; and three cousins.

Vigil and Rosary service will be Monday, September 28, 2020, at 7:00 PM and Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at 10:00 AM; both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses with Reverend Aneesh Parappanattu, MSFS officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. Visitation will be Monday, September 28, 2020, from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Arrangements are in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W.
