Andrew Jack “AJ” York

Joe Denoyer - March 14, 2021 8:24 pm

Andrew Jack “AJ” York, 32, passed away on March 11, 2021 in Wichita, Kansas. He was born March 1, 1989 in Ulysses, Kansas to Peter and Roberta (Wilson) York. AJ graduated from Sublette High School in 2007 and attended Kansas State University.

AJ had a knack for picking up nicknames from the day he was born. Through the years he’s been known by his closest family and friends as “J-Bird,” “Ace,” “Alejandro Jose,” and most recently as “Uncle AJ.” He will be remembered by his loved ones for his sly grin, quick wit, and big heart. AJ was a man of few words but could always light up a room with his jovial presence. A talented farmer and respected businessman, he easily filled any role on the family farm. AJ loved music and sharing laughter with his family and friends. He appreciated a well-written song and a beautiful sunset sky. AJ will forever be a hero to his nieces, and he loved them beyond words.

AJ is survived by his parents, Peter and Roberta York of Sublette, KS; brother, Nicholas York and wife Julie of Satanta, KS; sister, Haley York of Milwaukee, WI; paternal grandmother, Dorothea York of Satanta, KS; and two beautiful nieces, Mackenzie and Brecklyn York of Satanta, KS. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jim and Betty Wilson, and his paternal grandfather, Milo York.

AJ was able to enhance the lives of others as a donor through the Midwest Transplant Network. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials made in AJ’s name to QLI of Omaha, NE or the Midwest Transplant Network in care of Weeks Family Funeral Home & Crematory, PO Box 1200, Sublette, KS 67877.

Cremation has taken place.

Visitation will take place from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, March 19 at Weeks Family Funeral Home in Sublette, KS. Graveside service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 20 at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, KS. Facial coverings would be welcomed by the family.
