Amanda Martinez, age 62, died on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at her residence in Liberal, Kansas.
She was born on April 27, 1962, in Emiliano Zapata, Durango, Mexico, to Romulo Martinez Guzman and Maria del Refugio Hernandez de Santiago.
Amanda held a bachelor’s degree, which served as the foundation for her long career as a dedicated educator whose career spanned over three decades. Amanda worked as a teacher in Mexico for 30 years. Following her tenure in Mexico, she continued her passion for education as a para-professional for USD480 in Liberal, Kansas at Meadowlark Elementary. She was very proud of becoming an American Citizen 2 years ago. A title she worked very hard for.
Amanda was united in marriage to Martin Calderon on March 24, 2018. She was known as a loving and nurturing wife, mother and grandmother. Her memory will forever remain alive in the stories shared by her family and students. She will always be remembered for always being dolled up for every occasion.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the New Beginnings Church, 2021 N. Western Avenue, Liberal, Kansas with Pastor Phillip Dow presiding.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cancer Center of Kansas in care of Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
