Alona Janette (Whidden) Kramer

MEADE – Alona Janette (Whidden) Kramer was born August 6, 1941, in West Palm Beach, Florida to Herbert Vernon and Ida Mae (Ballard) Whidden and passed away July 13, 2024, in Meade, Kansas.
Alona was raised in the Fort Meyer, Florida area until the age of 10, when her mom remarried and the family moved to International Falls, Minnesota. In 1959, she met Ken Kramer the local youth pastor and was bet she wouldn’t go out with him. She took the bet, and they were married on November 23, 1960. For the next 64 years they stayed by each other’s side living in several locations in Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Kansas. Over those years she had various jobs, but her main job was a Pastors wife and all the duties that went along with that, including leading the choir and Christmas programs.
Alona had a very artistic side she showed over the years, with painting, ceramics, crocheting, and her love of quilting. She was very proud of the many awards and ribbons she won showing her quilts. Many of us being the recipients of her work.
She also canned and made jams, jellies, and bread, which she sold at local events where they lived. She also achieved the accreditation of Master Garden and we all know she loved to have a very nice gardens.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Kenneth Kramer of Meade, Kansas; her children Tim Kramer and wife Anne of Dunn, North Carolina, Erik Kramer of Cour D’Alene, Idaho, Jim Kramer and wife Leann of Meade, Sarah Kramer of Dewitt, Nebraska, and Joanne Bessler and husband Jerry of Plymouth, Nebraska; her sisters, Sharon Bellamy, Karla Lapinski and husband Bob, Renee Nelson and husband Scott, and Judy Lalum and husband Robert; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her Mom, Dad, and Stepdad Vernon Oveson.
A celebration her Alona’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the United Methodist Church, DeWitt, Nebraska. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, DeWitt. In accordance with her request, cremation has taken place and entrusted to Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
The family would welcome memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
