Alma E. Wiens Koehler

Alma E. Wiens Koehler, age 94, passed away late Saturday evening, February 22, 2025, at the Lone Tree Retirement Community, Meade, Kansas.

She was born September 13, 1930, in rural Meade County, Kansas, the daughter of David A. and Elizabeth L. (Classen) Reimer. As a young girl, she attended grade school at the Pleasant Hill School, later attending and graduating from the Meade Bible Academy. In 1962, she completed beauty school in Liberal, Kansas. After her training, she owned and operated Alma’s Beauty Salon in Meade for many years.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church and enjoyed crafts, painting, embroidery, punchwork pillows, working in her flower garden, cooking, baking (especially her cherry rolls) , and spending time with her family and friends.

On July 12, 1969, she married Menno Wiens at Meade. He precedes her in death on April 20, 1998. On September 18, 2005, she married George E. Koehler at Meade. He precedes her in death on January 17, 2018.

She is survived by a daughter, Sharilyn Maben (George) of Seattle, WA: a son, Darrell Wiens (Liz) of Anthem, AZ; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Wiens of Wichita, KS; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husbands; a son, Nolan Wiens; parents; and three brothers, Daniel D., Arnold D. and George D. Reimer, and one sister, Hulda Voth.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:30 Monday, March 31, 2025, at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade. Private family burial will be held in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.

The family would welcome memorials to the Emmanuel Mennonite Church in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
