Alice Bernice Hacker, 89, of Hooker, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord, September 9, 2020 at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton, Kansas.
Alice was born February 26, 1931 in Hooker, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lawrence and Minnie Reinwald Sylvester. She attended rural schools and in the fifth grade began school in Hooker. She graduated from Hooker High School and then attended Amarillo Secretarial school receiving her certification. She began working in Amarillo, Texas.
On June 1, 1951 in Hooker, Oklahoma Alice was united in marriage to Bill Hacker at the St. Johns Lutheran Church. Their first home was in Hooker then they moved to the Hugoton Plains Plant where they had a home.
In 1961 she began Hacker Studio doing what she loved, photography. In 1966 they moved into Tyrone, Oklahoma and in 1972 moved her studio to downtown Hooker. In 1982 they moved to Hooker where she continued her photography and Bill continued to farm.
Bill passed away September 10, 1998.
She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Hooker, the LWML and she enjoyed the Art Association along with Hazel Davis.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill, her daughter, Colleen Penner and a sister, Dorothy Catalanello.
Alice is survived by two sons, Mike and Vivian Hacker of Lathrop, Missouri and Ronald Gene Hacker of Vinita, Oklahoma; daughter, Connie and Billy Carson of Enid, Oklahoma; sister, Evelyn O’Connell of Amarillo, Texas; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Family graveside services will be held due to the COVID virus.
