Albert J. Amerin, age 77, passed away Monday afternoon, April 12, 2021, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.
He was born December 9, 1943, at Meade, Kansas, the son of Enos J. and Lillian B. (Lauer) Amerin. As a young boy, he attended school in Plains, graduating from Plains High School in 1962. After high school, he attended Hutchinson Community College on a football scholarship, shortly after attending, his father passed away and he returned home to help with his family. Over the years he lived in Plains, Summit County, Colorado, and Garden City, Kansas. He was an oversize load pilot.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Plains. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Kip Amerin of Centerville, Ohio, and Kara Hunerdosse of Olathe, Kansas; and three grandchildren, Nicholas Amerin, Jacob Amerin, and Jayden Redmon.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harold Amerin, Enos J. Amerin, Jr., and Edward Amerin; and a sister, Gloria Robison.
Vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2021, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Plains. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the church. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday with the family present from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Plains Cemetery, Plains.
The family would welcome memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.
