Albert “Al” Freeman

Albert U. Freeman, 90 peacefully passed away October 22, 2017 at Homestead Estates, Liberal, KS. Surrounded by his family at his side. He was born July 26, 1927 in Duquoin, KS to John and Margaret Freeman and was raised on the family farm with five siblings.

He attended school and graduated from Harper KS. In 1948 he was in the US Airforce Flight Squadron at Lackland Air Base.

On April 7, 1951 he married Joan Yoder in Kiowa, KS. In their 66 years of marriage they raised three children. He worked in the oilfield for 45 years, retiring in 1990 as Drilling Superintendent of Sage Drilling, Inc.
He then raised and raced thoroughbred horses for many years and also served as President of the Kansas Thoroughbred Association.

He enjoyed life, especially his time with his family and friends. As a member of the Elks Lodge he loved playing poker and pool with his friends. As an outdoorsman he loved hunting and fishing at his home on Ute Lake, Logan, NM.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan. Children, Marcia (Gary) Teel of Liberal, KS, Vance (Kaylene) Freeman, Greg (Jennifer) Freeman. 3 grandsons, 4 granddaughters and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Duane, Clayton, Gene and Dale. A sister Wilma and grandson Chad Gregory Freeman.

Celebration of life Memorial service will be Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorials may be given in Alberts name to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, Shriners Hospital, Elks Nation Foundation or donor’s choice in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd St. Liberal, KS 67901.
