Alan Bruce Olson, 60 years old passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022, in Norton County, Kansas. The son of Daryl and Vanetta (Hager) Olson, he was born on March 17, 1962, in Burlington, Colorado.
He and Joyan Renee Romero were married on October 5, 2019, in Ulysses, Kansas.
Alan worked for the City of Ulysses in various positions for 43 years, his duties included Detective and Chief of Police for the Ulysses Police Department. For 10 years he was the City Administrator of Ulysses. He was active in the community as a member of the Rotary International Club of Ulysses and was a part of two musical bands: Fulton Street Band and Clay Davenport Band. Other hobbies included woodworking, playing the drums, cooking, hunting, and camping.
Survivors include wife, Joyan Olson, Ulysses, KS.; two sons, Brian Olson, TX., Jacob Romero, Ulysses, KS.; one daughter, Sara Olson, Wichita, KS.; one brother, Steve Olson and wife Sherrie, Ulysses, KS.; and his beloved dog, Sissy; and many other relatives and friends.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Daryl and Vanetta Olson, and his brother, Dave Olson.
A memorial has been established for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the City of Ulysses Animal Shelter. In the care of Robson Funeral Home, 218 S. Main Street, Ulysses, Kansas 67880.
There will be no public visitation.
Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 2 P.M., Templo Emmanuel Church, 100 W. Patterson Avenue, Ulysses. There will be no burial as cremation has taken place.
