Agnes Charlene Eakes Knott, age 88, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 20, 2021, at her Meade residence.

She was born October 22, 1932, at Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Adam and Helen (Amerine) Eakes.  As a young girl, she attended school in Plains, Kansas, graduating from Plains High School in.  A lifetime resident of Meade County, she was a cook at the Plains Grade School for thirty-five years.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.  She enjoyed crocheting, playing the piano, going to the casino, and spending time with her family and friends.

She was a mother of six children, Richard Knott and wife Brenda of Meade, Jeannie Babcock and deceased husband Phil of Holcomb, Kansas, Pam Kaiser and husband Rodger of Howard, Colorado, Larry Knott and wife Cheryl of Fowler, Kansas, Gary Knott of Meade, and Sherry Knott of Scott City, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Barbara Cox, Joyce Potter, and Marce Showwalter; a brother, Ray Eakes; and a grandson, Shane Cravens.

Vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Meade.  Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2021, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Plains.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Interment will follow the service in the Plains Cemetery.

The family would welcome memorials to the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church building fund in care of the funeral home.
