Adell (Cecil) Haney, age 95, of Ulysses, Kansas died Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Kearny County Hospital, Lakin, Kansas. She was born near Hardwood, Oklahoma on March 16, 1921 to Millard Estes and Nellie May (Droke) Cecil.
Adell was the second of three daughters and grew up and attended school through the eighth grade near Hardwood and Olney, Oklahoma. She married Earlon Leslie Haney on August 18, 1939 in a barber shop in Hardwood, Oklahoma officiated by a preacher/barber. They raised six children together during a time when hard work was just a part of life. While living in rural Oklahoma they moved often but never more than a few miles. She and her family moved to Johnson, Kansas in 1962 where she continued to be a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a daycare provider in Johnson for over 45 years caring for and helping to raise dozens and dozens of children. She was “Grandma” to every child that knew her. She moved to Ulysses, Kansas in 2010 to live with her daughter.
Adell is survived by two sons Cecil Haney and wife Dorothy of Salina, Kansas and Bill Haney and wife Beverly of Johnson, Kansas. Three daughters, Margaret Louise Broyles of Ulysses, Kansas, Shirley Gleason and husband Michael of Salina, Kansas and Barbara Weins and husband Steve of Haysville, Kansas. One daughter-in-law, Sarah Haney of Atoka, Oklahoma. One sister Lucile Fahrni of Exeter, California, and many many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Adell is preceded in death by her parents, husband Earlon Haney, son Raymond Douglas Haney, Son-in-law Bobby Broyles and sister Lennie Williams.
Funeral service will be Saturday, October 22, 2016, 10:00 AM at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson, Kansas with Pastor Kurt Rovenstine officiating. Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson, Kansas. Visitation will be Friday, October 21, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home, Johnson, Kansas.
