Melissa Marie McDowell, age 59, passed away late Saturday evening, March 29, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.

She was born October 17, 1965, at Hays, Kansas, the daughter of Dwight D. and Sharilyn Marie (Corn) Eisenhour. As a young girl, she attended school in Paola, Kansas, graduating from Paola High School in 1984. She later attended Kansas State University and Seward County Community College. After graduating from college, she worked in medical administration.

On June 14, 1986, she married Tim McDowell at Fowler, Kansas. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Cimarron, Kansas, and later at rural Fowler, Kansas.

She enjoyed puzzles, going to zoos, camping at the lake, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Tim of rural Fowler; her children, Timothy Blaine McDowell (Emily) of Cimarron, Cassandra Marie Marshall (Phillip) of Montrose, Colorado, and Katie McDowell (Stuart) of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Michelle Hubert (Tim) of Manhattan, Kansas; and six grandchildren, Graham, Brie, and Sadie McDowell, and Evan, Draven, And Adalyn Marshall.

She is preceded in death by her mother Sharilyn on March 9, 2018.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler, Kansas. In accordance to her request, cremation has taken place.

The family would welcome memorials to the Lee Richardson Zoo in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, Kansas.
