Jessie Mae (Hershey) Thompson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on June 9th, 2023. She was born to Daniel and Jessie Hershey on July 25th, 1920. A Rolla High School graduate who went on to work at the Sedgwick County Courthouse until she retired at the age of 72. Jessie was a loving and caring individual who touched the hearts of those around her.
Jessie’s proudest accomplishments were working until she was 72 and serving her community. She volunteered at the Hugoton Senior Center for many years, where she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Her memories will live on with those who enjoyed spending time with her.
Jessie is survived by her son Douglas Thompson, daughter Vickie Hull, sister Betty Willis, grandchildren Jerry Hull and wife Lori and Matthew Willis, and great-grandchild Garrett Hull; she was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Jessie Hershey, husband Rose Dale Thompson, in 1996, two brothers Wayne and Paul Hershey; three sisters JoAnn Hershey, Olivia Dannels, Helene Armstrong; son Darrell Thompson; daughter Vieta Lewis; and two grandsons Chris and Jamie Ryan.
Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Jessie’s life during visitation at Robson Funeral Home] in Hugoton, Kansas, on June 13th, starting from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside service commemorating Jessie’s life will be held at Rolla Cemetery in Rolla, Kansas, on June 14th from 10:30 AM.
Jessie Mae (Hershey) Thompson may have left us, but the love she shared throughout her life will never be forgotten. Her memory continues to live within our hearts as we cherish the times we spent together. May she rest in peace.
