Griselda O. Rodriguez, age 79, of Ulysses, Kansas died Saturday, January 28, 2017, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born November 18, 1937, in Las Cruzes, Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of Epifanio Ortega Aragon and Maria de Jesus Arvizo Garraza.
Griselda grew up in Mexico. She moved to the United States in 1984 and married Ricardo Rodriguez in 1985 in Ulysses, Kansas. Griselda’s family was very important to her. She was always helping family members where she could; and enjoyed spending time with and caring for her grandkids. Griselda was very involved with her church, Primeria Iglesia Bautista. She spent time with various church members praying and studying the Bible. Griselda enjoyed raising animals; chickens were her favorite. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling, shopping, and collecting dolls.
She is survived by sons, Guadalupe Rodriguez, Ricardo Rodriguez, Eriet Rodriguez; daughters, Isidra Rodriguez Ortega, Bilga Esparza, Aide Rascon, and Mireya Crawford; 31 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
Griselda is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ricardo in 2014; and two daughters, Bany Antillon and Zulet Harp.
Memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Manuel P. Perez officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Great Bend Cemetery in Great Bend, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to Primera Iglesia Bautista in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
