National Beef Issues Statement on Wednesday’s Fire

At approximately 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20., a trailer parked in a loading dock area at
National Beef’s Liberal, Kansas facility caught fire. The fire quickly spread to other trailers and a portion
of the loading dock area. The fire was extinguished before 12:00 a.m.

The safety of our employees and others on-site is our top priority. The plant was operating at the time
of the fire. Emergency services were contacted, and the plant was immediately evacuated.

There were no injuries.

There will be no production at the Liberal facility on Thursday, March 21.

We are working closely with authorities to determine the cause, assess damage, and prepare for
restarting production.

We are grateful for the quick response and support of the Liberal Fire Department, the Liberal Police
Department, and other emergency services.
