MORTON, STANTON COUNTY RESIDENTS ASKED TO TURN OFF SPRINKLERS

Emergency crew battling wildland fires in Morton and Stanton Counties are having difficulty filling the water tanks on fire trucks quickly due to a drop in the water pressure. The pressure drop is the result of numerous residents turning on their lawn sprinklers in an effort to keep the fires from their homes, even when these residents are not located anywhere near the path of the fire.

County officials are asking residents to refrain from turning on their sprinklers unless they have been told to do so by local authorities or they are in the direct line of the fire.
