More than 4,000 people will gather in Salina

this weekend to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts

of America.

The Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and adult leaders from a 32-county

region in Kansas will be treated to a week of activites, contests

and a concert.

Scouts will begin arriving

Friday, with official opening events beginning Saturday morning.

Salina Mayor Aaron Peck and Kansas State University president

Kirk Schulz – who are both Eagle Scouts – will attend the opening

ceremonies.

The public will be admitted to weekend events for $10. Any

non-Scout young person who wants to participate will be admitted

for $20.
