Last night the 7 grade A team played their final regular season game
against the Apaches. The Apache’s came to play and kept the game close
throughout. The Warriors, however, shot 78% from the charity line taking
the lead late in the game and held off an Apache charge.

Defensively we saw several step it up making key plays.. Brooks Kappelman
sprawling out on the floor for a loose ball and getting it to a
teammate…. Mehki Husky and Kevin Riveria, both with intensive defensive
plays to get the ball back offensively. Zayden Nartinez was pivital
under the basket taking missed shots and finishing off with easy put backs.

We created mistakes throughout the game that kept the Apache’s motivation
up, especially a rival game. Give them credit for pushing the game to the
end. Final score 29-27 EMS Warriors.

Leading the scoring for the Warriors included Zayden Martinez with 13,
Mehki Husky 5 , MJ Foster 4, Carson Chamberlain, Kevin Riveria and Seth
Michel 2 and Brooks Kappelmann 1.

The Warriors finished the 2019 MSWAC campaign 4-3 in league play.
Tournament play begins next Thursday and concludes Saturday.

*8B from Coach Richards *
SRMS had a great game against our rival Eisenhower. Oscar Valverde was our
top scorer with 8 points, Nick Freeman Scored 2, Daniel Rios 4, and the
whole team did a nice job with a press defense the entire game. The boys
came back from an 18-13 deficit, going on a 7 point run to take the lead.
they just came up short losing 23-24 at the very end. The team knows
what to do going into the tournament for next week and should be able to
pull a win or two there.

*8A from Coach Shelby*

In the Seymour Rogers vs Eisenhower game, Seymour was feeling confident in
the locker room and excited to have so many fans in the stands. Then
Eisenhower won the tip and came down the court and hit a 3. Seymour was
deflated, but was able to hang around in the 1st quarter down 9-1. Coach
Shelby then made a rookie mistake and tried to put the press on in the 2nd
quarter. Eisenhower was too quick and jumped out to a huge lead. Seymour
played extremely hard in the 2nd half. Cristian Loza made the most of his
last home game, shooting the ball at least 10 times in the 4th quarter,
making a three.
