Yesterday cross country traveled to Ulysses to compete. The Warriors had a very successful day racing. Warriors who medaled were: Gentry Carter placed 14th in the seventh grade girls two mile, and Sophia Mercado placed 4th in the eighth grade girls race. For the boys Brandon Maldonado placed 8th, Jacob Garcia placed 9th, and Elijah Denoyer placed 13th in the seventh grade race. In the eighth grade boys race Alexis Landa placed 5th, and Eric Baeza placed 11th. Out of eleven teams 7th grade girls got fourth, 7th grade boys got second, and the 8th grade boys and girls each got second.

SRMS XC Ulysses Sept. 24, 2024
The SRMS Cross Country team did extremely well on Sep 24, 2024. The boy’s 7th and 8th team and the girl’s 7th and 8th team had a combined score and placement in the 2 mile course.
The Ulysses Cross Country meet had a field of 105 boys. The Apache boys placed 9th in the team standings and were led by Chance Macy placed 34th with a time of 15:28. Chance was closely followed by Jaxon Schwindt in 37th with a time of 15:44. Next up was Alexander Lux with 16:43. Leo Castillo was next with 17:38 and on his heels was Joel Nevarez with 18:07. Dylan Cerda ran a 19:50, Luis Mejia at 20:56, Callen Bridenstine at 22:56 and Cephas Eidson at 25:46.
The Apache girls placed 3rd as a team, succumbing to Dodge City MS in 1st and Scott City MS at 2nd. The Apache girls brought home a total of 4 medals.
Kamil Huerta led the girls team with a time of 16:47 placing 7th in 7th grade race, Yazline Medina followed closely with 16:49 while placing 8th , Ava Limbocker 17:22 placed 15th in the 8th grade race and the last girl medaling was Raquel Diego 13th in the 7th grade race with a time of 17:34. Magali Romo with a time of 18:04, Evy Martinez with 19:31, Kaylene Robertson with 19:38.73, Liliana Zamora with 19:38.87 was next by a fraction. Kim Gonzalez was next with a time of 19:55, Alexandria Bourell with 19:59, Francelly Villa with 22:20, Jazmin Portillo with 22:31, Mildred Aguirre with 22:44, Summer Gallegos with 25:12 and Bridgette Rendon with 29:10.

SRMS XC Hugoton 9-21-24
The Seymour Rogers Middle School cross country team traveled to Hugoton, Kansas on Saturday, Sep 21, 2024. The weather was perfect as well as the course.
The 8th and 7th grade teams ran a combined gender race. There were no team scores but we did secure 2 medals and several Person Records.
The 7th girls were led by Kamila Huerta placed 10th with a time of 15:13. The Apache ladies were as follows: Yazline Medina placed 19th with a time of 16:18, Kaylene Robertson 34th with a time of 17:18, Liliana Zamora 35th with a time of 17:22, Alexandria Bourell placed 48th with a time of 19:05, and Evy Martinez placed 49 with a time of o 19:12.
The 7th grade boys race had a blistering race between a Dodge City runner and Nehemiah Jaramillo were neck and neck the entire race. Nehemiah Jaramillo placed 2nd with a time of 12:33. The rest of the tribe gave their best efforts. Santiago Pavia placed 21st with a time of 14:34, Alexander Lux placed 25th with 15:05, Natanael Barrajas placed 26th with 15:08,
Dylan Cerda placed 38th with 15:59, Luis Mejia placed 60th with 20:34, Cephas Eidson placed 67th with 22:49, and Jason Ordonez placed 71 with 24:46.
The 8th grade boys were led by Chance Macy placed 37th with a time of 14:15, Jaxon Schwindt placed 45th with a time of 14:32. Leo Castillo placed 71st with a time of 16:05. Lastly, Callen Bridenstine placed 78th with a time of 21:12.
