8th Grade- Eisenhower 46 Dodge City Comanche 37

Monday night the Eisenhower Warrior Boys 7th grade team hosted the Dodge City Comanche’s at Cottonwood Elementary.

Unlike the first meeting where the Warriors dominated, the Comanche’s came and played with full vengeance. Alec Mertes got the ball rolling for the warriors in the first as the Warriors led 11-10 after the first period. Christian Gonzalez got the Warriors going in the second quarter scoring 12 points giving the Warriors a five point advantage at the half. The Warriors continued to pace the game leading 36-28 after three quarters. The Comanche turned up the heat in the fourth, combined with sloppy passing by the Warriors to close the gap. The Warriors were able to cling to a 43-41 win.

Leading the way for the Warriors was Christian Gonzalez 29 points, Chris Moreno 5 points , Jaime Franco 3 points, while Julian Loya, Alec Mertes and Chase Mertes each added 2 points. Christian Gonzalez also recorded 14 rebounds , Chris Moreno added a team high 4 assists.

The 7th Grade B team played tough trailing throughout the game. A late surge closed the gap with Jaime Franco stealing passes on two consecutive plays scoring layups on both. The second one sealed the victory as time ran off for a 31 -30 win.

The Warriors close out the season Thursday against the Apache’s .
