EMS 7th Boys Basketball in Mid Season Form
After opening the first three games of the season with losses to Hays / Great Bend and Horace Good, the Eisenhower 7th grade Boys basketball team has put together a winning streak notching victories against Dodge City Middle (37-27) and Monday night against Kenneth Henderson 38-31.
The first three games we just couldn’t find a shot rhythm as well as work together defensively. We gave up too many big quarters – that’s hard to overcome. when we’re forcing our shooting to cut deficits.
Against Dodge city, The Warriors started strong and fast taking a 25-4 lead at the half. Sloppy defense allowed the Cardinals to cut the gap, but the Warriors were able to hang on for their first win.
Last night, for the second game in a row, Christian Gonzalez Moreno paced the Warriors scoring attack. He has a natural way of getting himself open and going strong to the basket. Opening the second half trailing by three, the Warriors behind Christian, opened up the offen\se to start pulling away; The Warriors’ took a three point advantage into the final quarter.. Late in the fourth, the Falcons cut the lead to 33-30, when Chase Mertes banked a three pointer to seal the game. for the Warriors 38-31.
Leading the way for the warriors was Christian Gonzalez Moreno 27 points, Matthew Robledo 4 points , Chase Mertes 3 points while Chris Moreno and Julain Loya added 2 points each. Matthew Robledo added five Rebounds, two assists and one blocked shot.
The Warriors (2-3) continue MSWAC play on Thursday at Dodge City Comanche.
