7A from Coach Olvera –
The Seymour Rogers 7th Grade Basketball A-team played this Thursday against GC-Horace Good. Once again the Apaches started off with great energy attempting to score against the Hawks and try to get the win. Christopher Marin scored the first point by making one out of two shots from the free throw line, followed by Prince Collins who made a three point shot. The Apaches ran great offense throughout the game and always fought hard for the ball. The Apaches also played great defense by being able to slow down the quick offense of the Hawks. However, the game ended 40-26 in favor of the Hawks.
7B from Coach Shelby –
On Thursday night, Seymour Rogers 7B took on Horace Good for their home opener. The Apaches struggled to penetrate Horace Good’s 2-3 zone all night, but played hard until the last whistle. The Apaches lost 42-4. Giovanni Barrera and Jaden Allen led the Apaches in scoring with 2 points apiece.
8A from Coach Sniff –
The Apaches hosted Garden City Horace Good last night. The 8th grade A team started slow in the contest with Horace Good scoring 10 consecutive points. This was followed up with some good back and forth action bringing the score to 9 to 21. Horace Good finished out the first half strong with another 10-0 run bringing the halftime score to 9 – 31. The second half was a lot closer of a game with the Apaches putting up another 14 points and Horace Good putting up 17. The first half was just too much for the Apaches to overcome and they lost the contest 23 to 48. The Apaches were led in scoring by Emmanuel Sepulveda with 11 and Iker Favila with 7.
Thursday night the Eisenhower boys 7th grade traveled to Dodge City taking on the Cardinals.
The opening quarter saw both teams playing even with Kale Miller dropping a three to close it out knotted up at 7. The Warriors then outpaced the Cardinals in the 2nd and 3rd quarters by 11 points taking a 28 -17 lead into the final quarter. Eisenhower then held off a late surge by the Cardinals to win 34-28.
The Boys really came out to play tonight. We did a great job working the ball into our posts while crashing the boards offensively. Most of our points came inside the paint. Christoper Pino coming off the bench adds so much quickness as well as attacking the basket finishing shots. Max Gonzalez, J’Kobe Contreras, Bren Kappelmann, and Landry Frizgerlad picked up on the defense, disrupting their offense. Overall a nice win, but the season is still young and we have some things to clean up and improve on.
The Warriors were led by Adrian Gonzales with 15 points, Christopher Pino 6, Kaeyloeb Alvarado 4, Kale Miller 3, while Isaac Castaneda, Ethan Olmstead and J’Kobe Contreras each added 2 points. Adrian and Ethan both grabbed 5 rebounds with J’Kobe adding 4 more. The Warriors shot 42% from the field, their best to date.
Eisenhower will play a rescheduled game Saturday against Hays and Great Bend as well as a road game on Monday to Garden City against Kenneth Henderson.
