8A from Coach Kelley –
The Lady Apaches 8th grade A were back in action last night at Guymon for a
Tuesday night contest. The Lady Apaches would finish the night with a final
score of 16 and the Guymon Tigers would have a final score of 51. Shamari
Lewis would lead the Apaches in scoring with 10 points followed by Allisson
Rios, Maya Lopez, and Miranda Rosales with 2 points apiece. The Lady
Apaches 8th grade A team will be back in action on Thursday in their home
gym against Kenneth Henderson from Garden City.
8B from Coach Arnold –
The Lady Apaches came up just a little short of their game high scoring
goal last evening against Guymon. The final score, 41 – 9. The team’s
highest scoring effort this season had been 9 against Comanche the previous
week. DestinyGonzalez hit her three in the first 2 minutes of the 4th
quarter, but the Apaches still came up a little shor after taking what may
be a record number of three point shots in the closing minutes. The 41
points Guymon scored came at the expense of some hard earned man to man
defense. Also, contributing factors included too much size and the game had
a little rougher mentality than what we typically see in middle school
basketball. Guymon had some very athletic girls that could play suffocating
half court defense, but were also extremely well schooled in full-court
press mechanics. Destiny Gonzalez was the high scorer for the Apaches with
5 and a 3 point goal. Lynette Alonso scored 2 and Jazlyn Marguez had 2
points to open the scoring in the 3rd quarter. Lady Apaches next action is
Thursday, December 2 at home against GC – Kenneth Henderson. On Monday the
squad takes on cross town rival Eisenhower on the home court. Both games
begin at 4 PM at Prairie View Elementary.
