LIBERAL, KS – The Seward County Saints Men’s Soccer program has tabbed Michael Wright as the first assistant in program history.
Assistant Coach Michael Wright is entering his inaugural year on staff as the men’s soccer team will have their first-ever match on August 19, 2023 at Pratt.
Coach Wright spent the 2022 season on staff at Allen Community College in Iola, KS as he will bring conference experience to the new program at Seward County. As an assistant coach at Allen, Coach Wright helped lead the team to a 12-4-1 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the KJCCC. Heading into the Region VI/IX tournament the Red Devils were the #1 overall seed. Coach Wright was also in charge and head coach of Allen’s Second Team and for the 2022 season they had an overall record of 18-3-1. During his time in Iola Coach Wright coached 20+ Academic All-American 1st & 2nd team members.
Prior to his time in Iola, Coach Wright spent two years from 2018-2020 as an assistant coach for FC Minneapolis a professional team in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL). During their 2019 season, FC Minneapolis reached the Midwest Region Quarterfinals of the US National Cup after going 4-3-3 for the year.
Michael is a native of Monrovia, Liberia, Africa and he moved to the USA with his family in 2000 and attended high school in Missouri graduating from Fulton High School. After high school Michael received an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice from Jefferson College and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Fort Hays State University.
