Mexican Man Sentenced for Transporting Illegal Immigrants

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) – A Mexican man who’s been convicted twice of

transporting illegal immigrants has been sentenced in Kansas to 46

months in federal prison.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says 32-year-old Jose Alberto

Orozco-Larios received the sentence Monday in federal court in

Wichita. He pleaded guilty earlier to one count each of

transporting illegal immigrants and aggravated re-entry after

deportation.

Orozco-Larios was pulled over in Seward County in March of this

year while driving a van carrying eight illegal immigrants – four

of them young girls unaccompanied by parents.

Orozco-Larios had been deported to Mexico in December 2006.

Nineteen months later he was convicted in Pennsylvania on the same

counts as the Kansas charges and was deported a second time after

serving a prison sentence.
