Liberal, Kansas – After helping the Saints men’s soccer program get off the ground in the 2023 season for the inaugural year of the program, Mateus Ribeiro has officially signed on the dotted line to continue his soccer career at the four-year level for Williams Baptist in the 2024 season.

Ribeiro appeared in 17 games for the Saints that included 6 starts at the midfielder position where he attempted 5 total shots and landed 2 on goal for his Seward County career. In his one year in Liberal he helped the men’s soccer program to an 8-8-3 finish including and undefeated record in non-conference action while Ribeiro helped push the tempo up field to give his team a chance to score.

He will be heading to an Eagles team that found success on the field in 2023 as they went 11-4-2 overall with a 5-0-2 record in conference action and advanced to the AMC Tournament Finals with a 10-1 win over UHSP in the quarterfinals and then a 2-0 win over William Woods in the semis.

“Mateus was a transfer student who helped our very young squad last year learn the ropes of playing and preparing at this level” said Head Coach Jaim Beltran. “He was a leader and a hard worker that set a great example. We look forward to hearing about his accomplishment at his new school”.

Ribeiro is the second player from the Saints inaugural sophomore class to sign to the four-year level as he joins Santiago Gonzalez Uribe who will play for Shorter University next year.
