Governor Signs Bill Concerning HorseThief Law Enforcement
Several bills are being signed in Topeka, but there’s one that deals with a specific location in Western Kansas. A house bill would allow the governing board of the HorseThief Reservoir District to appoint a law enforcement manager and associated officers.
They will have to meet the requirements of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Act and complete instruction at the state training center. The Hodgeman County Sheriff’s Office will oversee the HorseThief District officers.
The reservoir was completed last August and is expected to open to the public sometime this spring.

Funding will come primarily from a bond issue, and it will not require the college to increase its existing mill levy. The college has seen a steady increase in enrollment over recent years.
