Man Dies In Rural Structure Fire

On Wednesday evening, May 7th, the Seward County Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 5000 Block of Road O. Firefighters had the fire was under control at 6:34pm. Mutual aid was received from Turpin Fire Department. Cause of the fire is still under investigation by Seward County Fire Department, Seward County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office A man died in the blaze and has been identified as Fermin Ascencio Sr. See his obituary at www.kscbnews.net

The Seward County Fire Department responded with 2 pumper/rescues, 2 brush/tankers, 1 command vehicle and 9 firefighters.
