The Liberal Lady Redskins traveled to Hays Friday evening and won over the Hays Lady Indians 42-38 with the help of Ali Lucero’s season high 19 points.

LHS led 15-12 after one and kept that lead through the half to end the 2nd quarter with a 21-18 lead. The Lady Redskins kept the gap in the score by six at the end of the 3rd with the score 33-27. It got down to a 1 point difference with 22 seconds left in the game when Ali Lucero hit a three leading the Lady Red to win the game 42-38.

Lucero led Liberal with 19 points and shot 6 of 6 at the freethrow line, while Machia Mullens had 6 points and shot 50 percent at the freethrow line. The Lady Redskins went 12 and 18 from the line and 6 and 14 from the arc. Lucero’s 19 equaled her career high of 19 against Garden City last year.

Liberal moves to 12-4 overall and 4-1 in the WAC which puts them in 2nd place. The Lady Indians drop 9-7 and 2-3 in the WAC. Liberal plays Cimarron Tuesday night at home with Redskin Pre-game at 5:45 on 1270 and kscbnews.net
