U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas of Cheyenne has been re-elected to a second term as chairman of the House Agriculture Committee.

Oklahoma’s senior congressman announced Wednesday that the House Republican Conference re-elected him to the post.

A farmer and rancher from western Oklahoma, the Republican was re-elected this month to an 11th term in Congress.

Lucas has said getting a new five-year farm bill passed is one of his top priorities.

Lucas also touted the committee’s oversight of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Environmental Protection Agency to ensure producers aren’t being burdened with bureaucratic red tape.
