Junior Priscilla Vasquez beat all odds and advanced to State by taking 4th
Place at Regionals in Garden City on Saturday. She received the lowest
14th seed and had to compete against the #3 Seed, Jessica Stratton, from
Wichita South. Running the baseline back and forth for 2-hours, Vasquez
won in straight sets. Her next opponent was just as strong. Vasquez had
to play the #5 Seed, Hanna Wood, from Hutchinson. In another marathon
2-hour match, Vasquez upset Wood to advance to State. In the semifinals,
Vasquez was physically spent but battled to the end losing to Garden
City’s Sage Riggs and Carson Linenberger in the medal rounds.

Singles player Katie Classen had to scratch due to illness.
Doubles teams Riddhi Bombaywala & Briana Sanders and Jaciana Rivera &
Aracely Jurado competed hard and represented their school well.
